Trump at War?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

This is a very scary escalation.

Iran says powerful general killed in US airstrike in Iraq
Americans will die in service to Dolt .45's impeachment distraction. This is good timing:

This whole situation, to me, blatantly illustrates the folly of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 and demonstrates the galactic ignorance of the Bush administration. Iraq and Iran had been enemies for decades mostly because of the Sunni / Shia divisions that were prevalent during all that time. Now that the US has made Iraq a Shia dominated country, like Iran is, the US has given Iran a valuable gift that cost them nothing but cost the US a trillion dollars, several thousand US military deaths, and tens of thousands of Iraqi deaths. If Saddam were alive, he'd be laughing his ass off.

It's wild how nowadays you can communicate directly with Iranians via apps like Instagram and Facebook and Twitter. I was reading a Time article about the US killing the Iranian general and scrolled down to see Iranians and Americans shit posting and talking smack to one another. It's almost like people are rooting for a goddamn sports team. But I guess that's how things are when you're thousands of miles away and likely to never be directly impacted by the events unfolding. It makes for great entertainment. It makes for an interesting day.

What a time to be alive. What the fuck.

Remember all that Iranian unrest over the past several years? More and more progressive sanity was growing stronger and reform was a real possibility.

But there is always (as we saw during the bush years) one thing that can override all reasonableness and good sense - blind patriotism fueled by a outside threat.

Way to go trump. You continue to be the Screwup Everyman.

I like to fire up the ol' disabled Facebook account in times like these to see what's on people's minds. I've got a pretty good cross section of people on there from back in the day.

So far I've got one post calling for the US to turn Iran into dust. :crazy:

I'm gonna text my Iranian friend (living in the US) for his opinion.

Some, maybe a lot of those are Saudis, Israelis, Russians, North Koreans and Chinese stirring shit up.

How can so many forget the hundreds of Cheney/Shrub lies before the Iraq War?

It's difficult to trust Trump when he lies about the most inane things.

Even if I were to give him a modicum of trust in the very beginning to give him a chance, that was completely blown away with the blatant lies about his inauguration attendance. I'm baffled how people can trust someone like Donald Trump. This is just the tip of the iceberg of lies. How can we trust much of anything going on right now in regards to the Iranian general being killed?

Trump’s Old Tweets About Obama Striking Iran For Reelection Come Back To Haunt Him
The posts from 2011 and 2012 are going viral again following the U.S. airstrike that killed Iran’s top general Qassem Soleimani.

...
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

In order to get elected, @BarackObama will start a war with Iran.

2:48 PM - Nov 29, 2011
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in tailspin – watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.

4:39 PM - Oct 9, 2012
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Polls are starting to look really bad for Obama. Looks like he'll have to start a war or major conflict to win. Don't put it past him!

9:30 AM - Oct 17, 2012
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Don't let Obama play the Iran card in order to start a war in order to get elected--be careful Republicans!

11:43 AM - Oct 22, 2012
Trump continued with the claim during Obama’s second term in office.
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

I predict that President Obama will at some point attack Iran in order to save face!

4:23 PM - Sep 16, 2013
:roll:
... The resurfacing of Trump’s old tweets inevitably trended online:
There truly is a tweet for everything.
There’s always a tweet. Only this time Trump is likely to get a lot of people killed.
"There's Always a Tweet" feels flippant on a night like this. But given the president's mindset in this old tweet, it's hard not to wonder about his mindset in carrying out a drone strike to kill an Iranian general 48 hours into the 2020 election year.
And there's no question that Trump will use his attack on Gen. Soleimani in political events going forward to rally his supporters.

Friend of mines parents are in Iran right now. Said everything is chaotic. Said that to some, the general was a legend and they are super pissed, while others think he's an evil SOB. He said people are pretty spooked though and are afraid a war is gonna break out, and think this is the closest the US and Iran have been to having a war.

More distractions?

US sending 3,000 more troops to Mideast as reinforcements
No doubt about it; three thousand troops is the definition of a distraction. The raccoon eyed moron will send a lot more in the next month or so. The cult will go crazy and erupt in a sort of religious zeal.

Didn't y'all get the memo? That is "perfectly" balanced by the Kurds-betraying withdrawal of “less than 1,000 troops” from Syria, not a withdrawal from the Middle East, but merely to Iraq.

Trumpette math and peace-seeking diplomacy, you betcha.
