So, where did the 'Pubs get off track?
I mean, besides the nutters (aka Tea Party) that have helped them get off-track.

Indeed, Billy.
It's become (the Republican Party): "I've got mine, to hell with you!"
Sad, really ...
Even so, interestingly enough, many of them don't "have theirs," they just follow along with Breitbart, Faux Noise, Drudge, Limbaugh et al ever so blindly.

"I've got mine, F U."
A friend gave them that name back in the late 80's.

It's more like I worked for mine now work for yours.
Not that I agree but this election the republican personnel hatred attack ads towards Obama weren't as bad as the libs is all. Obama didn't win buy (the 47%) all that much.

Even my husband who is a die-hard Republican is having trouble coming to terms with the way the GOP is acting.

I worked for mine and am now working for your kids' education, you sexually irresponsible slacker.
Your obsession with my normal sexual preference is getting scary. You should call you girl friend or something. Also I paid for my kids and many more. Have you paid you food stamp bill yet?

"bad" is subjective. Objectively, Mitten lied more.

It's strange how the libs just can't wait for all to be able to marry anything yet the head lib can't stop talking about my normal sexual life. I hear woman marrying goat is getting more normal now. Have at it vred.Vrede wrote:Long, long ago. I'm sorry but not surprised that you get confused and then scare yourself so easily. I don't care about your sexual preferences except to the extent that you are making me pay for them.
You should call you girl friend or something.
She's at work paying for your kids' education, too.
Also I paid for my kids and many more.
It's a stupid argument that you keep repeating. We both use about the same amount in other government services. You're getting about $100K per kid on top of that.
Have you paid you food stamp bill yet?

Nice clip, Mike. Thanks. It would seem that the GOP has, indeed, doubled down on stupid, as Ike warned about. Oh, well.mike wrote:Indeed, Billy.

Probably somewhere around 1980. The 1980 platform did give lip service to blacks, hispanics, and womens' rights, but the tent was left open enough to let the camel's nose of the hard right under it.
By 1992, the first topic covered was "Uniting our Families" with verbiage such as, "Our greatness starts at home—literally. So Republicans believe government should strengthen families, not replace them. Today, more than ever, the traditional family is under assault. We believe our laws should reflect what makes our Nation prosperous and wholesome: faith in God, hard work, service to others, and limited government."
By 2000, there was hard-line anti-abortion plank, anti-gay plank, in support of the named "Boy Scouts" and somewhat mealy-mouthed platitudes about non-discrimination. However, even then, the platform supported interstate health insurance exchanges as well as strengthened assistance to college students and "teamwork" between government and schools.
By 2008 they were...well, you know.

Yeah, very much off the rails. In fact, I saw a clip of Sarah Palin (who has evidently forgotten to shut up lately) last night babbling about how "...our country is headed toward socialism, and you know, what's next after socialism; communism" nonsense. It seems I remember before the election Coulter and others of the wingnut persuasion made statements to the effect that "if we can't win this election, we may as well give up" or something similar to that. Seems to me they've doubled down on stupid instead of giving up.
