When Biden ain't Jolt Jolt Joltin along

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

When Biden ain't Jolt Jolt Joltin along

Unread post by billy.pilgrim »

And why it's unlikely I'll vote for him again.

I'm sure I need more info, but damn, I can't imagine someone from the Democratic Party allowing any group of repugs to take the upper hand on Social Security.
Cassidy is making Sense in his headline statements.
UnJoltin Joe isn't responding.

Cassidy's plan won't work with right-wingers and he knows it, but the headline may siphon voters.

So why couldn't Joe announce a plan that will fix the program forever.
Cut the percentage by at least half - probably more.maktf f z
Apply this new ss tax to tax all income of any type and without the exemption for being rich. Payroll, stock sales, passive income, taxed at the same rate the working poor pay

Republicans seek to flip the script on Social Security

"Democrats for months have been on offense on Social Security, accusing Republicans repeatedly and publicly of wanting to make cuts to the entitlement program. But now some in the GOP are hitting back and trying to put the onus back on Biden to address the insolvency threat facing the program."

(months?, rightwingerness is on full display here. Why would the repugs know that this very argument is as old as the program its self.

"Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) was among other Republicans to broach the issue in a charged line of questioning against Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen during a Finance Committee hearing Thursday."

“'Of the $4.5 trillion in taxes he has proposed, not a dime is going to shore up Social Security,” Cassidy said, before asking moments later “why doesn’t the president care” about threats to the program’s funding."

"The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated last month the program’s fund risks running a shortfall in 2032."
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

Means testing benefits, too. Are the Koch Brothers collecting?
Here Dems are, stuck in the middle with Biden
The president is calculating that liberals will stick with him despite decisions on oil drilling, immigration, crime bill and more.

... Over the past few weeks, the president has said he would not stop a bill overriding changes to D.C. criminal code, announced a historic new drilling initiative in Alaska, and entertained reinstating family detention to deter migration along the southern border.
The feds have always screwed DC govt, crime is a poser and immigration will remain a morass until Congress acts, but I think this really sucks:
... Other Democrats were enraged that earlier this week Biden went back on a campaign pledge to halt drilling on federal land by approving a massive $8 billion plan to extract 600 million barrels of oil from federal land in Alaska.

The Alaska site, known as the Willow Project, would be one of the few drilling agreements Biden has approved freely, without a court order or a congressional mandate....
