Oklahoma Disaster Relief
If anyone can overlook the fact that they're a Christian organization, Anchor Baptist Ministries of Pisgah Forest is accepting monetary donations to send relief supplies to Oklahoma to help the victims of the recent devastating tornadoes in OK City, Moore, and surrounding towns.
The money will be sent to another Baptist ministry in OK City, which has agreed to spearhead the purchase and distribution of the much-needed supplies that are in pitifully short supply; basic needs such as drinking water, baby needs, food and clothing.
Anchor Baptist Ministries is a well grounded and widely recognized relief ministry who, in addition to Asheville's Hearts With Hands and Samaritan's Purse, are scrambling to rush the needed financial aid and supplies to the stricken areas. All three of these fine organizations will also be trucking supplies.
If you can find it in your heart to help, and want more information, please call ABMI (WGCR Radio) at (828) 884-9427. (wgcr.net)
Please know....not one penny will go to administrative costs or the costs of fuel to move the needs to OK.
May God bless. The Piper

Probably because of the consistent and repetitive anti-Christian sentiments expressed in this forum.Ombudsman wrote:Why the need to start off with a snarky comment like that? The Piper wrote:If anyone can overlook the fact that they're a Christian organization,

But it's attitudes like piper's that feed the division.. Non-Christians have legitimate concerns with those Christians that can never seem to separate humanitarian issues with their religious agenda... Now I don't think that that was piper's intent but as one who has been set upon by "Christians" many many times throughout my life..it is always on my mind when I hear that sort of snarky remark..Wneglia wrote:Probably because of the consistent and repetitive anti-Christian sentiments expressed in this forum.Ombudsman wrote:Why the need to start off with a snarky comment like that? The Piper wrote:If anyone can overlook the fact that they're a Christian organization,
That said.. Piper...thank you for the info.. We all want to help the victims of such natural disasters.. Even if their asshole Senator Inhofe has been such an enormous prick with his attacks on Federal Aid for victims of natural disasters in other regions of the country...

Links to atheist org's helping out Oklahomanians.
I've not vetted any of these personally, just passing the information.

It wasn't my intent to be snarky, but wneglia is correct.Ombudsman wrote:Why the need to start off with a snarky comment like that? The Piper wrote:If anyone can overlook the fact that they're a Christian organization,
There's a few here who view anything to do with Christianity as being underhanded or evil.
My intent was to encourage a search of the heart, not the mind.

Not underhanded or evil, just ridiculous.
I saw a clip of Wolf Blitzer interviewing a woman in Oklahoma and asking
her if she was thankful to the Lord she was still alive. She paused for a
moment and then said I'm an atheist, but she didn't mind if other folks
felt thankful. Blitzer was surprised. Christian charities do a lot of good,
even if it is in the name of supernaturalism.

Surely you wouldn't be speaking of all those sweet, kind words posted in 'The Religion Thread', would you?The Piper wrote:There's a few here who view anything to do with Christianity as being underhanded or evil.Ombudsman wrote:Why the need to start off with a snarky comment like that? The Piper wrote:If anyone can overlook the fact that they're a Christian organization,
I can't understand why Ommy would get his drawers all drawn up in his crack over that 'snarky comment', but I suppose that if the shoe fits....
So you're saying despite their religious convictions and beliefs, what they do in the name of those convictions and beliefs is ridiculous. Got it.Bungalow Bill wrote:Not underhanded or evil, just ridiculous.![]()

Sure, when it comes to killing people and cutting on young boy's penis's. Really though, this discussion should have taken place in a different thread. What The Piper said. Another well meaning post turned into an anti-religion pissing thread. The Piper wrote: There's a few here who view anything to do with Christianity as being underhanded or evil.
Which one? Leave it to you, Ommy, and BB to screw it up.Bannination wrote:this discussion should have taken place in a different thread.

It's the other way around. What they are doing is good, but their beliefs are
ridiculous. Sometimes good things come from delusional beliefs, like getting
a chocolate bunny for Easter.

A lot of Christians just can't help being snarky. But what do you expect from people who think they are god's chosen?

Snark knows no religious boundaries. I know atheists who are just as snarky as the snarkiest Christians. It's a personality type, not a religious affiliation.Ombudsman wrote:A lot of Christians just can't help being snarky. But what do you expect from people who think they are god's chosen?

Bottom line is how many on this forum, believer or nonbeliever, snark or non-snark, asshole or non-asshole, have given to the Oklahoma disaster relief effort?

Ombudsman, God chose us, all..... long ago. We are the one's who are given the choice to choose Him. As Stinger noted, personality is a determining factor
in human behavior towards others; there are those in all walks of life who for some reason or the other feel that they are better than others, but the ground is level at the foot of the Cross.
Now, back on subject.
I've given mine.Wneglia wrote:Bottom line is how many on this forum.......... have given to the Oklahoma disaster relief effort?
