http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article ... eform-billPeople in S.C. aren't pushing ethics reform bill
We read with bemusement the Sunday editorial of The Greenville News, and we must say that the proselytizing of the media for “ethics reform” resembles their campaign against so-called global warming. The froth and the fury are in diametric opposition to the reality both of the supposed problem and the interest of the regular public.
The short story is that the ethics bill is merely feel good legislation, and, moreover, no one not writing editorials cares. Your argument, just like with global warming, is both demonstrably false and self-contradictory. Are the resignations of Sen. Robert Ford and Lt. Governor Ken Ard a result of “weak ethics regulations” or, instead, evidence of the fact that our laws produce the desired result? They did, after all, leave government.
Did we vote to set the ethics bill on Thursday after “much criticism”? Given that we together can count on one hand the emails and calls that we’ve received on the subject, we think not. Not to deflate your balloon, but we don’t vote based on editorials. And then you note that the nullification of Obamacare received Special Order on the same day. As the high priest of global warming once proclaimed, that seems an inconvenient truth. Just as an aside, as for being “radicals” in the pursuit of the nullification of Obamacare, we would say that, “extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.”
President Barack Obama’s radical agenda deserves a radical reaction from South Carolina. We do agree that there is a perception that legislators cannot be trusted, but that is because they spend taxpayer money like they were using Jed Clampett’s credit card. If we thought that “ethics reform” would put a stop to that, then we would be its biggest proponents. As it is, our constituents care about legislation that really matters, and so do we.

Senator Kevin L. Bryant - Total moron
Take a look at this disjointed letter to the editor. I feel fairly certain it would not have been printed had it not come from a couple of elected officials simply because the writing is so poor. I'm not sure what global warming has to do with any other part of the letter, but these clowns sure feel strongly about it.

Those guys should be an embarrassment to the citizens they, ummm, "represent." I guess they know they're quoting a guy who took the worst butt-kicking ever in a bid for President on what was then the hard right. But they never remember the rest of the quote.. "And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."
Or this one either, probably..
I feel very definitely that the [Nixon] administration is absolutely correct in cracking down on companies and corporations and municipalities that continue to pollute the nation's air and water. While I am a great believer in the free competitive enterprise system and all that it entails, I am an even stronger believer in the right of our people to live in a clean and pollution-free environment. To this end, it is my belief that when pollution is found, it should be halted at the source, even if this requires stringent government action against important segments of our national economy.
Wonder if they know he also voted consistently to uphold legalized abortion and, in 1981, gave a speech on how he was angry about the bullying of American politicians by religious organizations, and would "fight them every step of the way."
Goldwater, radical as he was for the time, couldn't get elected to chair of a precinct in today's farce of a Republican Party.

Goldwater wouldn't want to be elected precinct chair in today's Refarceican Party. I don't think Reagan would.O Really wrote:Goldwater, radical as he was for the time, couldn't get elected to chair of a precinct in today's farce of a Republican Party.
Remember how radical we used to think Reagan was? And now we longingly remember him as a rational Republican?
Scary.

This guy has a nice response to these two idiots.
http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article ... tical-rant...Global climate is not merely a subject of opinions and political arguments, but one does need to understand some physics to discuss it intelligently. The necessary background information is available to the senators and/or their staffers. Clemson University offers PHYS 245, Physics of Climate Change, two mornings a week in the fall semester. There are no prerequisites, though college level math is helpful. After completing this course, one can objectively consider the many measurements and their implications, and draw one’s own sensible scientific conclusions.
