You have any idea how many of your posts are just generic taunting? Whether it's sports, politics, religion, whatever, you post only taunts. Why don't you occasionally pick something you'd like to talk about and maybe you would get better responses and less ridicule.
Immature 'nyah, nyah, nyah' is all s/he's got, this time stupidly that ...

More from the article
https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ter ... story.html

Since joining the Big Ten, Maryland’s record in conference games is 13-30, including a 3-6 record during the tumultuous 2018 season.
“For a long time the conference was called the Big Two and the Little Eight,” Weaver said. While it has since expanded to 14 members, “Maryland has become one of those [little] teams,” she said.

That would have been good advice for Jordan McNair before signing on at Maryland. A young man who wasn't allowed the opportunity to graduate. Little did he know that Maryland had/has shitty coaches.

Paul Finebaum on Tennessee: 'I've never seen anything remotely close to this'

Paul Finebaum attended Tennessee, and he’s never seen a loss like this in the Vols history.

Georgia State was a terrible 2-10 in 2018, and it went into the house that General Neyland built and defeated Tennessee 38-30. The Vols haven’t been good for a number of years now, but this loss takes the cake. This is rock bottom.

If you look globally instead of just in the US, on the world list of best universities, we find UNC at #56, several other ACC schools in or around the top 100, and including Maryland at #82. Auburn (sorry BillyP) was somewhere between 601-800. Clemson not found in the top 800. But hey - they've got themselves a football team.

https://www.timeshighereducation.com/wo ... cols/stats
56 in the world - damn good
but at least we check in at #1 in the state

https://ocm.auburn.edu/newsroom/news_ar ... labama.php

Depending on the list you use
Good cover :D . One might ask if Auburn University cherry picked which list to use in its press release.
O Really's link places the University of Alabama at Birmingham at 179th in the world, #274 in the US.
https://www.timeshighereducation.com/wo ... birmingham
Auburn University is close, 297th in the US.
https://www.timeshighereducation.com/wo ... university
Does that mean that there are 430 or more non-US schools between them?

I wasn't going to say anything, but since it's come up - my link doesn't put either Alabama school in the top 100, and lists Auburn 2nd to 'Bama in the state.
https://www.topuniversities.com/where-t ... iversities

:P

Full disclosure:
At O Really's link the U. I attended the longest is ranked higher than Auburn at 401–500 in the world, lower than Auburn at greater than 800th in the US, which makes no sense.
There seems to be a disconnect between the US and world lists - different sources?
At my link it is listed at #1 in the state.
The then correspondence, now online school I eventually got my degrees from is not listed by either site.
https://www.timeshighereducation.com/st ... ted-states

Here's another respectable list of public universities

NC in at #4 in the US
even Clemson at #46
and Auburn at sixty something

I'm sure that each one is superior to the other two in certain areas.

Different sources, probably different criteria, probably little value except for school PR and alum bragging. (Which my late mum could do if she were still around, as she attended #1, but wouldn't because Oxford people are not so "common" as to brag about their superiority  )

billy.pilgrim's source is the same as yours, though limited to public universities. Even then, it doesn't sync with your source's world and US rankings, which don't sync with each other. I think the authors attended Clemson.

Upsets can happen, but they're usually by a team that's really good, but not considered at the level of the favourite. Easiest example is App State at Michigan. But App State was a good football team, winning conference championships, etc....
I still tease the Michigan fans in our pool. It never gets old . . . except for them.

Clemson gives Dabo Swinney largest contract in college football history

... The Clemson Board of Trustees Compensation Committee approved a 10-year, $93-million contract for Swinney on Friday morning. Swinney holds the largest contract in college football history, eclipsing the eight-year, $74-million deal Alabama awarded Nick Saban last year and the 10-year, $75-million fully guaranteed deal Texas A&M gave Jimbo Fisher in December 2017....

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables will earn $2.2 million. He signed a five-year, $11.6-million contract in February 2018 that increased his salary by approximately $500,000. He was awarded a one-year extension Friday.

Venables earned the second highest compensation total among assistants last year behind Louisiana State defensive coordinator Dave Aranda ($2.5 million), according to figures compiled by USA TODAY Sports....

BillyP doesn't like BSU's blue field. Probably doesn't like Eastern Washington's, either, but there's no likelihood of EWU claiming a spot in the playoffs.
And they're not the only ones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_c ... eld_colors

I'm thinking PMS Blue/Orange stripes would help the Tigers/damn Eagles/Plainsmen/PMS Blue stand out from the crowd.

Auburn may have missed their shot,
Boise State holds a trademark on any non-green field, not just blue;[5] the enforceability of such a vague trademark has been questioned.[6]

Well, apparently Boise State "...issues free licenses to any school or team that uses a color other than blue or orange, Boise State's school colors." So BillyP has another reason not to like BSU. I'll bet BSU's blue isn't PMS blue.

They may have to. How do you trademark non-green?

Crap. BSU only won by 7. Got it down to the 5 or so on the last drive, but was then just able to kneel for a couple of plays.

Still on track for the playoffs. They had come back from 18 down to beat FSU at FSU 36-31. That must have been exciting.

Apparently they did. I was pretty sure their effort to do so would have ultimately failed. But it's still in effect. Probably the free license keeps the issue from being seriously litigated. Turns out Boise State has a whole department of trademark creation/protection. "Rachael Bickerton, a London-born former music-licensing lawyer who is Boise State’s director of trademark licensing and enforcement, defends “the iconic blue turf football field from any copycats who would dull its luster.”

...the blue turf, installed in 1986, began as a marketing tool, but has come to represent the city and the university. BSU’s blue turf trademark was approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2009, and was expanded from just blue to non-green in 2010. BSU typically grants permission to high schools and the like for non-green fields at no charge.

BSU holds a trademark on the word “Bronco,” but has permitted the professional franchise in Denver to keep using it.
