Maybe, but I think a better argument can be made that even if he paved the way, it was HIllary who greased the skids.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 12:48 pmFrom the black guy who paved the way for 45SHOLE.O Really wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 12:27 pmFrom the black guy who won two terms...

I hope that she's just teasing the deplorables and occupying some of them with attacking her, again, rather than the real candidates.O Really wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 1:47 pmMy relationship with Hillary is one of the reasons I have a hard time understanding Trump supporters. I was Team-Hillary from back when Bill ran the first time. My "mental" vote for Bill was really a vote for Hillary. I voted for her for real when I could, and I voted for her in 2016. But I see now that (a) there was a lot more Hillary-hate around than I knew, even among Dems and Semi-Dems, and (b) she really made some serious campaign mistakes, particularly taking the Rust Belt for granted. Result: I don't want her anywhere around the 2020 campaign and I think she should go away and play with the grandkids or do something off the national political stage. As much as I have supported her, it's time to move on. That's what the Trumpers should do.
I thought of "because of" but I doubt that's the case in bright red Louisiana. I think they had a guv they liked (over 50% approval and +18 rating) and didn't buy into Trump's obvious "far left" lies nor saw any advantage to voting for Governor to "support Trump." Trump always tries to make everything about himself, and more and more frequently it's not working.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 11:19 pm"despite"? Because of.

45SHOLE is on a roll.
I enjoy a "fuck-off Repugs" attitude for fun, but it probably does more harm than good overall. I enjoyed "basket of deplorables" too, but it probably cost more in driving haters to the polls than any value it got in entertaining those who were already voting for her.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 9:10 amIdk what the "best" Dem strategy is. There's no candidate without some obvious electoral warts. I'm going to support who I think will make the best POTUS - probably Warren, possibly Mayor Pete - and will let our collective others use their Ouija Boards to determine the best nominee.
That said, I liked 2016 "Fuck-off Repugs" Obama and am a little sad to see the return of 2009-15 Obama.
She's a unique case. Speaker requires more mgmt skills than Liz or Bernie! got in the Senate, though Bernie! was a small city mayor, himself.
Sounds like a misunderstanding but if Buttigieg or his people took advantage, shame on him/them. Sincere contrition is in order, regardless.O Really wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 10:52 pmAnd some really aren't much Pete fans...

I like The Young Turks and Papadopoulos is an asshole, don't know a thing about the other candidates.2020 California's 25th congressional district special election
The jungle primary will happen on March 3, 2020. If a candidate receives more than 50% of the primary vote, they are automatically elected and the runoff election is cancelled, otherwise the top two vote getters in the primary advance to a runoff election on May 12, 2020. The winner of the special election will finish the remaining balance of Hill's term in the 116th Congress. A separate jungle primary and general election on March 3, 2020 and on November 3, 2020 respectively will determine the representative for the 117th Congress.
Candidates
California uses a jungle primary system in which all candidates run in a single primary regardless of political party. In regular congressional elections, the top two vote getters in the primary advance to a runoff election regardless of party affiliation or vote tally. However, in the special election for the balance of Hill's term, if a candidate receives more than 50% of the primary vote, they are automatically elected and the runoff election is cancelled.
Democratic Party
Declared

Christy Smith, state assemblywoman

George Papadopoulos, former foreign policy advisor for President Trump's 2016 campaign
I assume that the same candidates will stand in the March 3, 2020 primaries for both the special and regular elections, but the website doesn’t directly say that.
