Impeachment

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

This Isn’t What Progressives Wanted From Impeachment
They feel betrayed, and Democrats’ newly announced support for President Trump’s trade deal isn’t helping.

I agree with the progressives. The ONLY reason that I could see for limiting the scope of the charges when he's committed so many crimes is if they had a few Repugs willing to accept the limited ones. Now, the Dems have run up the white flag on so much, and the America-hating Repugs were always going to unanimously support their fuhrer, regardless.
Kind of wondered about that too. More charges, especially bribery would seem to garnish more time for House Managers to present more evidence to the American people. The defense and verdict would be unchanged, but there would certainly be more fuel for the 2020 election rhetoric.

Pelosi, etc. are supposedly trying to provide cover for vulnerable Dems, but my opinion is that they will be attacked just as viciously and dishonestly whether they vote for 2 or 20 articles of impeachment.

Then, there's the nonpolitical argument. If one believes that the law has been broken, then charges should be made or at least there should be a vote on including them. That is the duty Congress has to the Constitution and to the American people.

I've gone back and forth in whether it would be better to include everything (which fershure would be a long one) or limit it to what would appear to be indisputable. Not that anyone asked me, but I'm comfortable with the limited approach, largely because you can't avoid the politics. The longer the list, the more opportunities to give some credence to the "witch hunt" complaint. If you can present something solid and undeniable (already admitted to), and McConnell just blows it off with "nothing to see here" then their sleaziness is clear to all. Sure, Trumper hard core will think sleaziness is good, but it could have an effect on voters who don't drool.

Devil's advocate:
The limited Ukraine-only charges can still be blown off as a Dem-only "witch hunt".
That would be a little more difficult with the 10 counts of obstruction that GOP Mueller IDed.

But, no one's asking us, as you say. We get a week or two of bitching about the Dems being too cautious, if we want, then we're stuck with what they did. We'll see in Nov.

Even if they had asked me, it would be difficult to presume my opinion was better than that of someone with the political acumen of P-Lo and her team. Either approach has its hazards and potential - as does doing nothing. I think I'll just let P-Lo do her job and go ride my bike.

I want to believe you and have no choice now but to do so, but we've been screwed by moderate and timid Dems so many times in the past.

Leftist take a dump on America. There, is that better?
First, I am not in any way concerned about what concerns you. Second, you damn near made a correct and truthful statement since I do think of myself as a "leftist" and the American Standard shitter in my bathroom is where I do, in fact, shit. Give yourself a tea biscuit and catnip.

Kinda creepy that the slobbering fanboy of Putin's Agent Orange is obsessed with your defecation. Oh well, as long as it's limited to fantasizing . . .

Yeah, but what struck me was the totally accidental way that he (I assume the cat fan is a male only because I am not convinced a female would be posting about muscle cars in the car thread) nearly made an accurate and truthful post. I forgot to mention in my kudo to him that I am in fact, a double "leftist" since I tend to lean to the liberal view of things and am also left handed. And if he wishes to fantasize further, I will confess that I never use the toilet paper holder that is on my right as I defecate into American Standard hardware and instead just sit the toilet paper on the little table to my left. I find that this works better for me as a double "leftist." Also, during particularly long sessions on the American Standard I sometimes muse about how if there were a trump brand toilet I would be first in line to obtain one and would also probably become a laxative addict.

It was over when Muller refused to try very hard to interview trump and why isn't Jared being prosecuted for lying to Congress. It

Muller was cover just like the one who didn't try very hard to get Cheney and the no one who ever went after the bunch of them for lying us into a never ending war.

That's in contrast to the one who never stopped until he drug Clinton through the mud for not much more than some consensual sex.

Or the many who ran the benghazi hearings

Let him put two more on the SC and it's a whole new world
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

Pathetic; the same old lies repeated once again with some trumpian fantasy thrown in for good measure. This man is crazy and needs to be stopped. Can you imagine how he's going to be after the Senate lets him off? He will continue and be even more renegade than he is. It's just over the top stupid.
