2020 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Iowa Democratic Results
62% of precincts reporting

Pete Buttigieg 26.9%
Bernie Sanders 25.1%
Elizabeth Warren 18.3%
Joe Biden 15.6%
Amy Klobuchar 12.6%
Andrew Yang 1.0%

Wow. IF this holds - who knows with this vendor FUBAR? - no one predicted this.
Looks like moderates are settling on Pete Buttigieg and ditching Biden. What will they do when Bloomberg is on the ballot?
Progressives are strong, and still divided. Not a big enough margin for Liz! to consider dropping out.
Amy Klobuchar has gained lately. Does that keep her in despite being in 5th?
Biden is in serious trouble.

Yeah, that's a really stupid and whiny criticism coming from a worshiper of:

They certainly had leftists devastated when they lost the election.

Correction: Putin, dark money and massive voter suppression "won" the 2016 election.

Whether or not there was collusion (there was) and whether or not Dolt .45 participated in the collusion (he did), there is no longer any doubt that you Trumpettes were and remain useful idiots for Putin. Barr, Rosenstein, Mueller, every US intel agency, and even the Senate GOP and VP Q-tip have said so. If you had the brains and stones to admit it, though, y’all wouldn't be pitiful Trumpettes in the first place.

No one here beside 1 FAT CAN cares about Hillary. It's a hoot that she's been camped out in 1 FAT CAN's head for 3+ years, must be lots of available space there.

The statisticians say that everyone writes a book win or lose, dummy, or has one written for them if they're as illiterate as 45SHOLE. You pick the goofiest things to whine like a toddler about. Anyhow, thanks for reminding us of your self-destructive stupidity:

It's pretty strange that 1 FAT CAN would reach all the way back to Jul 10, 2019 for that O Really quote, one that's a paraphrase of a well known adage. No dis to O Really intended, but it ain't special. Oh, that's right:

You have any idea how many of your posts are just generic taunting? Whether it's sports, politics, religion, whatever, you post only taunts. Why don't you occasionally pick something you'd like to talk about and maybe you would get better responses and less ridicule.
Immature 'nyah, nyah, nyah' is all s/he's got, this time stupidly that ...
It's also notable that absent any evidence that any of the cited statisticians are lying about the US economy and/or wealth gap, it's just 1 FAT CAN whining impotently and nonsensically.

However, what's really funny that it never occurred to 1 FAT CAN that someone would use the search feature and discover that O Really was referring to "bullshit" from RIGHTWING Sally Pipes of the RIGHTWING Pacific Research Institute opining on Canadian healthcare. 1 FAT CAN just fragged her/his own team.

Opps.

Effort underway to get Republicans to vote in SC Democratic primary

One Upstate group is working to get Republicans to vote in the South Carolina’s Democratic primary on February 29.

Karen Martin, the organizer of “Trump 2-29,” said the group is encouraging Republicans to vote for Senator Bernie Sanders in February’s primary.

GOP leaders in the Upstate say, the effort is designed to make a point about open primaries....

Republican party officials voted in September 2019 to cancel the GOP primary. Party leaders said the cancellation will save taxpayers over $1.2 million.
That's fine, it's their right. Plus, I would expect it when their own cultist party leaders have such disdain for democracy. I've done the same thing, but that when there was a clear worst Repug to vote for and thus maybe help the Dem in the general. In this case, I fail to see the strategy.

Sure, Bernie's a lefty, but only Repugs are pants-wetting terrified of that. Bernie! or Liz! MIGHT generate the anti-establishment enthusiasm that others can't.
Pete's experience is weak, but being a young moderate veteran might be appealing.
Joe MIGHT appeal to the middle, or he MIGHT be too bland to win.
Amy looks to be the "worst" at the moment, but being a younger than Joe moderate woman might be appealing.
Bloomberg has the experience and dough to make any race competitive.
Voting for the polling 1%ers won't change anything.

So, go for it, Repugs. Even if you succeed you could be shooting yourselves in the foot.

Saw this ad on TV for Erica Smith ( Democrat) for US Senator for North Carolina:
https://www.wral.com/erica-smith-campaign-ad/18935315/
I thought to myself: "Cool, an unabashed progressive is refreshing."
Then, I notice this:
Faith and Power, a Republican affiliated group, paid for a campaign ad for Erica Smith, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.
:wtf: I then found this:
PAC is spending $1 million in NC’s Democratic Senate primary. Does it have GOP ties?

A new super PAC is spending $1.6 million on TV ads on behalf of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Erica Smith, who lags far behind her main competitor in fundraising.

And based on the group’s media buyer, treasurer and other factors, it appears tied to Republicans.

The Faith and Power PAC is spending in TV markets across North Carolina, according to Advertising Analytics, a media tracking firm.

The buy is significant in a primary that so far has only seen TV spending for Smith’s rival, Cal Cunningham. They’re among five Democrats who face off March 3. Incumbent Thom Tillis is expected to win the Republican primary.

Cunningham launched his first TV ad last month. His campaign said it was part of a seven-figure effort that includes digital advertising and mail.

Cunningham, who has the backing of national Democrats and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, has had a big financial edge. In reports filed this week, he reported $1.7 million cash on hand. Smith reported $95,000. The others had little or nothing to report.

A new poll released Thursday by Public Policy Polling shows Cunningham expanding his lead in the primary. He had support from 29% of likely primary voters to 10% for Smith. More than half the voters were undecided.

Democrats believe the ad is a Republican attempt to undermine Cunningham.

“The fact that Washington Republicans are trying to meddle in our Democratic Primary should outrage every Democrat in North Carolina,” said state Rep. Cecil Brockman, a Cunningham supporter. “This is the latest, desperate sign that Republicans are scared to run against Cal Cunningham.“ ...
:obscene-birdiered:

Sleazy Repugs being sleazy Repugs, it's what they do.

As a progressive I MIGHT end up voting for Erica Smith, but I'm not going to be influenced one way or the other by the sleazy Faith and Power PAC.

Image
https://ericaforus.org/

She does look good, but viability also matters. I haven't looked into Cunningham yet. Win or (most likely) lose, it's a shame that Smith will forever be likely involuntarily tainted by Repug sleaze.

I still like Liz!, but she may have faded by 3/3. If so, I don't know between Bernie! and Mayor Pete - basically it's youth vs. ideology for me.

I'm leaning towards Bernie at the moment. I'm with you on Warren as well. I was leaning towards her mostly, but I think I may cast my vote for Sanders.
