Actually there were vaccines by 1918. In fact, there was a vaccine for smallpox by 1905 if not earlier.

How do I know? Well, look up the US Supreme Court decision of 1905, in which it found mandates requiring people to get the smallpox vaccine to be constitutional.

However, no vaccine was developed for the 1918 Flu. I found this:

There was even an Anti-Mask League of San Francisco.

Misdiagnosis

Because the virus that caused the disease was too small to be seen under a microscope at the time, there were problems with correctly diagnosing it. The bacterium Haemophilus influenzae was instead mistakenly thought to be the cause, as it was big enough to be seen and was present in many, though not all, patients. For this reason, a vaccine that was used against that bacillus did not make an infection rarer but did decrease the death rate....

I'm currently reading "Aftershocks - Pandemic Politics and the End of the Old International Order" by Colin Kahl and Thomas Wright. The 1918 pandemic ended up being named the "Spanish Flu" supposedly because Spain, being neutral in WWI, did not censor its domestic news and the first general knowledge of the pandemic came out of Spain.

Yeah, it should have been the American, Gitchell, Funston or Kansas Flu.
First wave of early 1918

The pandemic is conventionally marked as having begun on 4 March 1918 with the recording of the case of Albert Gitchell, an army cook at Camp Funston in Kansas, United States, despite there having been cases before him. The disease had already been observed in Haskell County as early as January 1918, prompting local doctor Loring Miner to warn the editors of the US Public Health Service's academic journal Public Health Reports. Within days of the March 4 first case at Camp Funston, 522 men at the camp had reported sick. By 11 March 1918, the virus had reached Queens, New York. Failure to take preventive measures in March/April was later criticized.
Spain got screwed.

Yeah, my book mentions that some say it started in Kansas and rapidly spread at Fort Riley Kansas and from there the soldiers took it across the Atlantic to Europe.

You probably know this, but Wiki and the book are not in conflict.

Illinois man killed half-brother by shooting him in the head during heated family argument over COVID-19 vaccines, police say

:wtf: No word on whether the shooter is a vaxxer or anti-vaxxer, but I guess he "won" the argument.

I'm guessing the shooter was the anti-vaxxer.
Where they were was almost in Kentucky. Neither were any of GoCubsGo's neighbors.

Me, too, but I wondered if that's just my bias. Otoh, if the shooter is the vaxxer he can claim it was self defense. :D

Hell, I hope they still have sex and are able to tell good drugs from bad ones. They better hurry. The way things are going, soon sex will be illegal and bad drugs will be mandated, Good drugs and sex will only be known in obscure enclaves and for a short time.

Just for the hell of it I went to Horse Depot to get some of that recently famous Ivermectin horse lube. The stupid bastards gave me Nevermectin or it might even been Imamexican by mistake but I used it anyway. If you combine it with power steering fluid it lasts longer but the effects are diminished. I'm through with those goddamn people.

Yeah, those students are stupid, but far worse IMO are the stadium managers, schools, alums, NCAA, pols and others that created the conditions for the students to be so predictably stupid in.

Speaking of stupid pols:

But many were quick to point out that vaccine mandates were so American that there might not have been an America without an early form of such a mandate. As PoliticFact previously noted, Gen. George Washington ordered his troops to be inoculated against smallpox in 1777 via a precursor to vaccination called variolation.

Healthline reported last month that school vaccine mandates have existed in the United States since the 1850s when the first one was enacted in Massachusetts to stop the spread of smallpox.

And Lawrence Gostin, a professor of global health law at Georgetown University, told NPR last week that the Supreme Court upheld vaccine mandates more than a century ago.

“That was something where the Supreme Court said that we don’t have a right to place other people at risk,” Gostin said. “And by 1922, in another case, Justice Brandeis, writing for unanimous court, upheld childhood school mandates, calling it settled law.” ...
This is simply not true. Vaccines for smallpox, later childhood vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella, Hib (vaccines discovered in USA), preserved our nation. I’m aghast at the absence of intellectual curiosity or even passing interest in American 🇺🇸 history from our US Congress
what to say if you want george washington to court martial you for insubordination at valley forge
Every US soldier is required to be vaccinated against chicken pox, hep A, hep B, measles, mumps, rubella, rabies, pertussis, tetanus, diphtheria, rabies, typhoid, pneumococcal pneumonia, and the flu. Is that really un-American?
Chickenhawk Jim Jordan wouldn't know about that.
Randi Mayem Singer @rmayemsinger

So two things, you pedophile-enabling stooge hack dickdrip of middling intellect: One, schools, universities and government agencies have been mandating vaccines for decades. Two, inciting insurrection against the US government is un-American. What else you got?

An Arizona father who stormed into a school with zip-tie handcuffs after the principal told his kid to wear a mask has been arrested

Cops Charge Zip-Tie Guys Who Ambushed School Principal Over COVID Rules

All three members of an Arizona trio who barged into an elementary school principal’s office with zip ties and threatened to place her under citizens’ arrest for following public health guidelines have instead been arrested themselves, the Tucson Police Department confirmed.

“58-year-old Frank Tainatongo was cited and released for misdemeanor trespassing yesterday,” Tucson PD spokesman Sgt. Richard Gradillas told The Daily Beast. “He would be the third person cited and released related to this incident.”

... On Monday, Tainatongo was booked on a charge of third-degree criminal trespass, the same charge leveled at Walker and Rambaran. If convicted, all three face up to 30 days in jail....

Tainatongo’s LinkedIn profile says he works as a production manager for the Rincon Research Corporation, a government contractor that develops software for the U.S. military, NASA, and the intelligence community.

“I am a confident decision maker and effective problem solver,” Tainatongo’s bio states....

Walker co-owns a coffee shop in Tucson that describes itself as “Tucson’s hub of Freedom and delicious coffee.” The shop recently hosted a meet-and-greet with far-right author and convicted felon Dinesh D’Souza, and will next month be welcoming Matthew Lohmeier, a former Space Force lieutenant colonel who was relieved of his post in May over his warnings of a “neo-Marxist agenda” within the military “designed to patiently and methodically overthrow the US government and replace it with a communist dictatorship.”

In an email last week to The Daily Beast, Walker denied that he and the others were planning to arrest Vargo, and insisted the group didn’t threaten anyone. He argued that school officials were hypocritical for not wearing masks themselves, and—contrary to his own livestream—portrayed the encounter as a peaceful one. Walker expressed dismay that reporters hadn’t spoken to Rambaran for his side of the story. When asked for Ramabaran’s contact info, since The Daily Beast hadn’t been able to reach him, Walker stopped responding. He did not reply to a request for comment on Tainatongo’s arrest.

Last September, Walker was arrested at a Pima County Board of Supervisors meeting for using foul language. The next month, Walker’s coffee house was shut down by county health inspectors for flouting COVID guidelines. Upon reopening a few days later, Walker posted a picture to Facebook of white supremacist meme Pepe the Frog, deeming Pepe the shop’s “Sales Person [sic] of the Month.” Those who complained got doxxed....

‘They’re going to hang you.’ Woman berates pro-mask county judge at Texas grocery store

A Texas woman angry about COVID-19 mask mandates confronted a judge shopping at an H-E-B grocery store in San Antonio, calling him a traitor, communist, and supporter of the devil, video shared by the woman shows....

“You’re a communist Nelson Wolff, you’re a traitor,” the woman, whose Instragram handle is ashleyrockshair, said.

As she trails behind Wolff, a masked H-E-B employee comes up to speak with her. “You’re a traitor, too,” she tells him, before turning her attention back to the judge.

She keeps following Wolff through the parking lot, yelling at him the whole time.

“How are you going to support the devil and not God? Straight communism,” she said.

Wolff goes about loading his groceries as the accusations continue.

“You’re going to go to jail, they’re going to hang you. Treason, crimes against humanity, Nuremberg trial. You’re going down,” the woman said. “You better enjoy your freedom while it lasts, buddy, and you got to answer to God.”

At that, she walked away, ending a tirade that lasted roughly 3 minutes, 30 seconds....

The good news in my house is that after attending a baseball game on the 29th, no mask required in the stands, and getting some sniffles since, I went into my HMO yesterday and got covid swabbed. Today I got the result: "Not detected". Yay. And yes, I got Pfizered in February (fully vaxxed by mid-March).

Even better, the A's beat the Yanks.

This bit might have been better put in "Just for Fun" but anyway here it is:
Ivermectin causes sterilization in 85% of men taking it, according to one (real) study - or if not complete sterilization, at least serious damage to the boys. This article says maybe not so fast, but the story is still out there.

Keep at it, idiots, we'll print up some more Darwin Awards.
