Bah, any navy that can't finish painting its submarines deserves to sink. And will.

Also, not a good Easter weekend in SC. Saturday:
Sunday:
Nine wounded at rural South Carolina bar in state’s second mass shooting in two days
That's how it goes in heavily Christian, ammosexual-friendly, red state SC.

Re: Mass Shootings
So let's all give a shout out to all the states that have passed "constitutional carry" laws in which virtually any adult can purchase and openly or secretly carry a gun without any background checks or safety training. In a couple of years, this issue will be revisited by either repealing those stupid laws or making it mandatory to buy and carry a gun.

Re: Mass Shootings
The news cycle for mass shootings is down to a couple of days, sometimes only one. Soon they'll be no more than a blip article next to one about a traffic crash on the freeway.
"Thanks for that weather report, Karlene. In other news today, a driver was texting while putting on makeup and crashed into a van driven by Jeff Spicoli. The car and van blocked the southbound 5 at Del Mar Boulevard causing traffic slowdown. Also, 16 people were shot in a disagreement over a parking space at WestRidge mall. That's it for news at 6, stay tuned for "Access Hollywood" and we'll be back at 11."

Re: Mass Shootings
It seems the state of South Carolina is joining as a participant in mass shootings, albeit maybe one at a time. Maybe they're serial shooters instead of mass shooters. Anyway, they're using shooting to kill off their convicted criminals. Without arguing whether the killing referred to euphemistically as "capital punishment" is right or wrong, I say the SC people are a bunch of chicken weenies. They're going to get three guys to hide behind a wall and shoot the prisoner, who has a hood over his head and is tied to a chair. Nobody has to look at him when they kill him, and they're 15 feet away so they actually have to aim, with at least a small chance of missing their heart target.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/explainer-so ... 31307.html
If they're going to shoot their prisoners, they ought to have the balls to do it straight up.

Re: Mass Shootings
Sure, but ending or suspending state killing in 22 or 25 states isn't ending the death penalty. The other states show no signs of abatement, and even if everybody ended it but Texas, the US would still be among the killing leaders.
But if your efforts are successful, probably you can cut down the availability of guns, too.

I don't believe you actually support doing away with the death penalty. Because every time you mention it you include all sorts of reasons why it will never go away.O Really wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 9:50 pmSure, but ending or suspending state killing in 22 or 25 states isn't ending the death penalty. No surprise that a habitual liar like Useless doubts the honesty of others. That said, I'm not quite as pessimistic as O Really.
There's no absolute reason to think that we can't eventually get there again.
