Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

A federal indictment charges the two with illegally selling 43 firearms to the government informant in just under 26 hours, a volume made possible by gun shows and less restrictive state laws in Indiana, by far the No. 1 source of out-of-state guns used in crimes in Cook County. Private gun sales in Indiana don't require background checks, a waiting period or even a record of the transaction.
With assistance from the gun lobby, you can do anything you set your mind to.
So by referencing illegal (prevented by law) activity Ombudsman thinks that proves a point that we need MORE laws. :-0?> Thanks for proving the point that criminals don't follow the LAW idiot!
No dumb ass, it demonstrates how easy it is for anyone to obtain guns legally and then use them illegally with our current laws. You really this dense or is it an act?

How did lifting the ban work out?
Oh, you mean the one that was proven ineffective in stopping anything when it came to modern sporting arms. Logic dictates that since the ban was proven ineffective, removing it was of no consequence.
Yeah there were a lot of loop holes. Your argument is that we should get rid of the loopholes to the law by eliminating the law. That's a pretty stupid argument. Sorta like saying, since people still rape, we should stop having laws preventing it. Dumb, dude, seriously dumb.

Gun nuts like car analogies. If you're doing donuts in your yard and run over your ten year old, what would the punishment be? Be a lot more than just having your driving privileges revoked.

O Really wrote:No you didn't mention the Contract, but one can't discuss the '94 turnover without doing so. Most knowledgeable people on both sides credit (or blame) Newt and the Contract for the turnover. I'm sure gun control was an issue for a certain percentage of the population, as it always is - and probably for you and your friends - and undoubted stirred up the NRA. Probably some lost their seats over it, but nevertheless, there was substantial support nationally for legislation such as Brady Bill as well as the "Assault Rifle" ban. If you think most Americans are single-issue voters and their most important issue is guns, you'll be the one buying the bridge to nowhere.
Then, as I said, contact your senators, urge them to push the agenda, and see what happens. All you are betting is your slim majority in The Senate. However, as evidenced by the backtracking already taking place I'd say folks a lot smarter than you can see the writing on the wall.

Hey fuzz nut...straw purchases (purchases made for the sole intent of transferring the gun to another owner) are illegal. So the guns were NOT obtained legally! I'd suggest at least knowing what you are talking about before you make a bigger "dumb ass" of yourself!

We have already proven you are an idiot on the subject..see post above. However, in an effort to let you prove your ignorance even further please explain for the class how additional laws will deter criminals when they are already not following the laws on the books? This should be rich so please don't keep us waiting too long!

First rule of gun handling...be CERTAIN the gun is unloaded until actually intending to fire. That means check, re-check, and then check again. A tragic mistake but no criminal intent. Fortunately for you, one can not be arrested for stupid.

They were obtained legally dumb ass. His intent can't be proven until he sells them illegally. You really this dumb?

Nope, but you obviously are. I'd suggest learning a bit about federal gun law before trying to continue. Carry on then.

One of the problems of communicating with wing nuts is that you see everything in this tidy little black and white world where the good guys are easily separated from the bad guys. Well reality doesn't work that way Sally. Read the damn news. Day after day there are stories of gun owners (good guys according to you) who get drunk, or angry or both and shoot someone. They obtained the firearm legally, then later use it illegally.

Try thinking beyond a grade school level if you plan to continue. You're embarrassing yourself.

Last week when a local kid climbed on a bookshelf and it fell over and killed him, there was no criminal intent either but the parents were still charged. But when a firearm is being used in a completely careless manner, you want to excuse it. Why is this? Why the passion for firearms among you nutters? It's just a tool right? Then why do you get so emotional over them?

As expected...deflection and no answer to the actual question. Please educate yourself on gun law before continuing in order to avoid further egg on your face...or don't this way is very entertaining.

Like leaving your kid to roast in the car? No criminal intent, they didn't think it was that hot, nor that the kid would die, but there will still be charges. Please explain why gun accidents get to use the "oops" defense successfully and other accidents don't. Explain further why shooting your kid while cleaning your shotgun wouldn't be considered negligence instead of just "a tragic mistake" when every gun instructor ever starts with "make sure it's not loaded...treat it like it is...don't point it at anything you don't intend to shoot..."

Oh, ouch, the pain :-H :oII :-H Tell you what dipshit, wanna go back to discussing your ignorance of federal gun law and try to save face, or do you want to continue to prove to everyone here that you are an ignorant dumbass that can't discuss the topic at hand. I'm betting you go with the latter of the two.
