You might be sorry, but it's a good offer. I may take you up on it.

I won’t be sorry. I did the same thing at the LNF. I don’t hide from anything.

Did you have to hide in a storm sewer whnn that false alarm about a missile attack happened a few years ago? And do you think the person responsible for activating the alarm should be fired, honored, or executed?

I actually slept through it. I didn’t know about it until I woke up and browsed through my social media. Honestly, I don’t know how I would have reacted if I had to experience it in “real time.”

The guy should have been fired. I know it was an honest mistake, but he had to be made accountable. He made tens of thousands of people panic and think they were going to die. The governor should have had consequences, too, for allowing so much time to elapse before telling us it was a false alarm.

So we all know that politics, among other topics, is full of exaggeration and hyperbole. If my guy farts, it's a humourous accident and "everybody does it." If your guy farts, it's a total travesty that flies in the face of all societal norms and is a major contributor to air pollution and climate change. Understood. But even within that context, you seem to be willing to take as mostly truth quite a bit of stuff that could easily be debunked. What is your main source of news, and do you check more than one place before accepting it?

My two primary sources for news are FoxNews.com and my Twitter newsfeed. If I see a news story that piques my interest, I will read it. Then I Google the key words to see whether other news sites (CNN, NYT, etc.) are also reporting that same story. I then explore more in-depth if the news item is something that really has my attention.

One of my favorite classes that I took in college was journalism. I learned about the importance of verifying sources and getting both sides of the story. Over time, I also trained myself to watch for biased reporting. While I myself am very opinionated, I want my news to be as objective as possible.

That’s why I consider Fox News programs like Hannity, Watters World and (especially) Laura Ingraham to be unwatchable. I get that they are opinion shows, but even opinion shows should exhibit some type of fairness. It’s also why I wish NewsMax would go out of business. That entire network is nothing more than a Trump propaganda vehicle. It’s embarrassing. (I know because my Mom watches it all the time.)

Finally, I look at our local newspaper’s website maybe a couple of times a day just to see if anything interesting is happening locally.

I just got tired of the fighting. It got tiresome. I love LNF, but it’s been reduced to posting silly memes and name calling. It seems there are only a few people there who are interested in actually discussing things anymore.

Good process, but I might wonder why you choose those two as first sources, given the known ummm "inaccuracies" you're likely to find. Here's my complaint about news sources - there are the ones with known bias, and you know what you're getting, and there are variations to that bias, ranging from putting a positive spin on something to passing along a known outright lie. Those aren't the ones that bother me too much, though. What I really don't like are those who are trying so hard to be "objective and fair" that they'll report an outrageous act as if it were a normal occurrence. "Good evening. President Trump announced today that he plans to make it illegal to feed starving children who weigh less than 80 pounds, saying 'Doge has found it wasteful and fraudulent to attempt to save any who have less than 60% chance of surviving.' In other news..." The news people are so afraid of being accused of bias that they equivalize normal and horrible.

Here's a nice chart from "Market Watch." I'll read, or at least scan, from anywhere but most of my main original sources are toward to top of the chart's curve. Yours may not be. The chart is from 2018, though, so there may be some changes since then (I'm tawkin' to you, WaPo)

Good choice. Speaking for myself, I'd much rather die in bed during a nuclear missile attack than in a storm sewer. Besides, the blast might just generate a king hell tsunami that would overwhelm the drainage systems to the point of cracking the goddamn roads above the sewer. Anyway, glad you didn't get wigged out. And as far as I'm concerned, the dipshit who sounded the alarm should be fish slapped in public on Wakiki Beach. Stay out of the sewer and die in bed instead.

And switch to ABC or NBC or CBS for your source of news. At least they won't lie to you.

I go to FoxNews because they are my favorite news channel. While I refuse to watch most of their opinion shows, I do enjoy news anchors like Brett Baier and Shannon Bream. I respect their journalistic skills. I also enjoy “The Five,” mostly for its entertainment value.

I am by no means a news hound. If I see a headline that interests me, I’ll click on it. Ninety percent of the time, I just quickly move on to my other bookmarks. Basically, I check Fox to see if something major is happening. If not, I’ll go to ESPN for sports headlines, Fightful.com for wrestling headlines and then Twitter just to browse.

Basically, I don’t trust any news web site. I know every single one of them can be biased. So, again, I trust myself to separate the facts from fiction.

News organizations like CNN, NBC and CBS have all misled their viewers at times. Again, no news organization is completely trustworthy. It’s up to each of us as individuals to seek the truth.

I am from Hawaii. Born and raised here. So were my parents and all my grandparents. I guess their ancestors migrated from Japan at some point.

I was sleeping when Sept. 11 happened, too.
