If this becomes part of the bill I'm sure you guys will return or refuse the $500 credit.
That's silly (gasp!). Individuals don't make - or have any effect on - tax law. Responsible ones just file according to the law in effect at the time, whether they approve of it or not. The point is, whether one approves or not, a $500 tax credit isn't remotely close to "no taxes on Social Security".
I'm opposed to income tax on Social Security because 1. it's a benefit you've earned and should be received in full; and 2. income tax on Social Security is just a circular process of the same government giving and taking and everybody's return being more complicated for no good; and 3. because I'd benefit from it.
On the other hand, I think it's really stupid to lament a deficit, go cutting valuable programs and at the same time refuse revenue.
"really stupid" is the MAGA motto.
I will take advantage of every opportunity to reduce my funding of the really stupid TACO Don agenda, including financing his tax cuts for voracious fatcats.
... Garcia, whose district of Miami-Dade County is overwhelmingly Hispanic or Latino and voted for Trump during the last election, said she sides with Trump’s efforts to target immigrants who are criminals, but said his targeting of those seeking lawful citizenship is unjust.
“This undermines the sense of fairness and justice that the American people value,” she wrote, while expressing support for fellow Miami Republican Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who similarly condemned Trump’s actions on Friday.
Stephen Miller was a high level campaign advisor. A White supremacist rampage was always guaranteed.
Rep. Salazar was promptly attacked by Trump supporters on social media after expressing upset over immigrants being arrested or deported while going through the immigration courts.
“I remain clear in my position: anyone with a pending asylum case, status-adjustment petition, or similar claim deserves to go through the legal process,” Salazar said in a statement, which led to calls on social media for her being voted out in the next primary election.
MAGA don't care about the law.
In a follow-up post on Sunday, Garcia said she has “faith” that “President Trump will do what’s just for those seeking freedom and upward mobility.” ...
A roofing company owner in Florida Keys who voted for President Donald Trump is now facing "a little buyer's remorse" after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained one-third of his workforce.
Vincent Cardina, whose team included six Nicaraguan workers, said he never expected his employees — whom he considered friends — to be targeted, as he believed the Trump administration’s immigration policies would focus on deporting criminals.
"It takes a toll. You get to know these guys. You become their friends. Not just an employer but a friend. And you see what happens to the family," he told NBC 6 South Florida in an interview.
Did he ask his "family" about his vote ahead of time?
“The situation is blatantly not at all what they said it was,” Cardina admitted to NBC.
We knew.
His business, which has already been affected, joins others in the area that have seen similar fallout.
One landscaper he knows has even gone out of business after losing his entire crew. "It's quite a shock," Cardina added, reflecting on how the detentions are impacting both his business and his workers’ families.
Did the landscaper also vote for DonOLD?
Social media users reacted to a clip from the segment, saying the man should have seen it coming.
"This is what happens when you live in a news echochamber. MOST Americans warned of this and it was no secret it would come to this," wrote a user on the social platform X.
"When you vote for cruelty thinking it’ll only hit 'other people,' don’t be shocked when it shows up on your job site. That’s not remorse, it’s reality catching up."
"Next cycle, he’s still going to vote in vibes. Never learns," commented another.
Damn, there are some really fat leopards these days.
U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is currently one of the few Republican lawmakers willing to voice opposition to President Trump’s decisions and policies. As seen below, when asked about the President’s decision to hold a military parade on June 14 (the President’s 79th birthday and Flag Day), Paul said “I’ve never been a big fan of goose-stepping soldiers and big tanks and missiles rolling down the street.”
Paul said: “So if you asked me, I wouldn’t have. I wouldn’t have done it.”
The Senator added: “I’m not sure what the actual expense of it is. But I’m not really, you know, we were always different than, you know, the images you saw of the Soviet Union and North Korea. We were proud not to be that. And I don’t, I’m not proposing that’s the image we would want to project. But I’m worried about the image that it isn’t necessarily the best image to show.”
Many on X are responding to Paul’s comments with agreement, including those who don’t often agree with the Senator. As one replied; “I rarely agree with Rand Paul. In this case, I am so pleased he stated his feelings about this publicly.” Another replied: “When Rand Paul is the GOP Voice of Sanity we are in deep trouble.” ...

Looks like it may rain Saturday. Here's hoping it downpours during the parade.
I think the press is taking some glee in reporting these stories. Cool, I'm gleeful, too, especially when MAGAts foolishly let us know they're reading these posts.
Vincent Scardina supported Donald Trump’s tough stance on immigration at the ballot box. But that decision came back to bite the roofing boss when ICE detained a third of his workforce.
The six men, all from Nicaragua, were pulled over in a work truck on May 27 while heading to a job—and carted off to jail.
... Scardina, who runs a small roofing business in Florida’s Lower Keys, cannot believe it. “It’s quite a shock. You get to know these guys, you become their friends—not just an employer but a friend,” he told NBC6, visibly emotional.
Adding to Scardina’s annoyance, the men had valid work permits and pending asylum applications, according to their attorney Regilucia Smith. “They are legally here,” she said. “Valid work permit, not even close to expired… again, no criminal records—not here, not in Nicaragua.”
Illegal arrests?
... Scardina says he voted for Trump and still supports many of the former president’s policies, but this isn’t what he signed up for. “Buyer’s remorse? I don’t know, a little bit,” he said.
The detained men represented a third of his total staff—devastating in a small labor pool like Key West. “We’re not able... to just replace people as easily as, say, a big city, [with] very limited people to pull from, and then you would have to train them, and that takes sometimes years,” he said.
LEOPARD!
... Scardina isn’t alone. He says other contractors in the area are being hit hard too. “I know of one landscaper that lost nine or 10 of his whole crew he had and he’s just totally out of business all of a sudden, just like that.”
Still, his colleague, Virgil Scardina, says they count themselves lucky. “I get to go home and hug my kid,” he said. “These guys don’t. And they don’t deserve that.” ...
... Another one of his famous fans is boxer Ryan Garcia.
He's been an outspoken supporter for a while now.
He's called him a "great negotiator."
He said he was the "best president."
Well, since Trump's ICE raids in LA, Ryan seems to have changed his mind:
People in the replies aren't so sympathetic to Ryan.
"'I voted for Trump, but' is when I immediately stop reading. This is all as advertised and you willingly voted for it. Go fuck yourself," another person commented.
Boxer KO'd by the internet , but it is kinda brave to somewhat admit he was wrong.
