Having just been on a peace march through Central America and Mexico, I thought it was awful. No way could I separate it from Ray-Gun's political contest.

I remember laughing over the big deal made out of the 6,330 rifles Soviet rifles captured. Montana had hundreds of thousands of rifles at the time.

Congress, Now More Than Ever, Our Nation Needs Your Cowardice

... Now is not the time for bravery or valor! This is the time for protecting your own hide and lining your pocket. Now is not the time for listening to your idiotic constituents drone on about what’s happening to their precious democracy. This is the time for getting down on all fours and groveling. Now is not the time to say, “Enough is enough,” and have the tough conversations about resisting the ongoing assaults on American liberty. This is the time to let the wave of apathy and indifference roll over you as you think about getting a really nice renovation to your house in Kalorama.

... It won’t be easy, but you must search deep within yourself and muster up every ounce of gutlessness you have. Then, bend over and lick the president’s boots.

... Take solace knowing you are not alone in this endeavor. Over the grand expanse of American history, there have been countless lawmakers who managed to summon up their complete lack of backbone and do the easy thing. Think of the members of Congress who turned a blind eye to Japanese American internment, McCarthyism, or the horrors of the Holocaust, all because doing something seemed a little too hard, a little too inconvenient. These men should be your inspiration. Never forget: You stand on the shoulders of spineless giants.

But we have not descended entirely from a nation of fearful men, have we? ...

‘The Onion’ Mocks Congress’ ‘Cowardice’ in ‘New York Times’ Full Page Editorial

The Onion published a full page ad in the New York Times mocking the “cowardice” of Congress in the face of the Trump administration’s “growing assaults on essential liberties.”

A printed copy of the satirical paper’s editorial — which was planned even before Trump dropped a “payload of bombs” on Iran without Congress’ authorization — was also delivered to every member of Congress, the Handbasket reports.
:---P x 535
... The Onion’s editorial board — signees include the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, hockey legend Joe Sakic, and Benedict Arnold — concluded their editorial, “Let this be the moment to make amends for any missteps of American bravery and valor. Congress, we are asking, nay, demanding: This coming Independence Day, don’t wave the Stars and Stripes, that enduring symbol of liberty and rebellion. Instead, wave the white flag of surrender.”

CULT!
Top Trump Official's POTUS Praise Goes Viral For Cringiest Reasons
Critics mocked Tammy Bruce's cultish vibes.

... While discussing Middle East policy on Wednesday, Bruce abruptly shifted into glowing praise of the president, even thanking God for him.

... She later described Trump as “very honest” and “transparent,” adding that she knows “to trust him” and “not second guess him.” She also praised “the power of his personality and leadership” and expressed her gratitude that “he’s the one making the decisions.” ...
These people have lost their freaking minds.
This is not just sycophancy, it is a creepy level of submission to Trump‘s Kim Jong-un style of measuring loyalty.

Awwwww, gush. I'm surprised my rep (Diana Harshbarger) isn't gushing. Maybe she still feels some "awwwwww" ov\er her husband being found guilty of Medicaid and Medicare fraud a few years ago. The husband, and probably her, both are grateful they were able to scsam health care programs before they got decimated. Whole lotta gushing going on.

There's always room for more cultish gushing at the top. For example, prospective ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle has competition for embarrassing America:

Self-described "alpha man" Nick Adams will be the U.S. ambassador to Malaysia if confirmed.

Greece can survive Kimberly. They've had their share of crazy ummm, "leaders". When I lived there, they had a military junta, but who arguably did a better job than Trump's cosplay administration*. Since then, they've had Pompandreau corruption, crash of their currency, imposed "austerity" and failure of major political parties. They may not even notice Kimberly is there, and of course she may not be.

Actually a good question for Supes and his friends to answer would be:
What could Trump do in office for which you would support impeachment and removal from office?

 Hell, I thought she was already over there. Doing nothing. But Mike Huckabee the huckster is doing a bang up job in Israel. In that new multi million dollar embassy trump created when he first wanted to stir up shit. I hope Don junior and his new sqeeze go to Greece and scout out prospective sites for new Greecey trump bullshit and money grubbing. Anyway, Kim has been given the same treatment Rudy got by the trump regime. Looks like even the things trump junior youches die. I wonder which of those nuts will commit suicide first? I'd say Rudy; he didn't even get an ambassador post. I think he wanted to be Secretary of State that first time. Crashed considerable since then. He'll die soon.

:D Kim's probably had her bags packed since Jan, but the Senate doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to confirm her.

You former Sen:

Republican Senator Says One Trump Move Made Him 'Done With This Bulls**t'
As he approaches retirement, North Carolina's Thom Tillis isn't looking to turn the other cheek.

It f**king took you long enough, asshole. Even so, he's letting TACO off the hook and blaming his sycophants.
... The hand-wringing came as he reflected on the damage Trump’s so-called Big, Beautiful Bill will do to people who depend on Medicaid in North Carolina and across the country.

North Carolina will have to kick 663,000 people off Medicaid because of the bill, Tillis told the station. He’s worried that, once people across the country start to feel the effects, it won’t hurt just Trump, it’ll kneecap the entire Republican Party.
 Fingers crossed.
... That became clear when Trump criticized Tillis on social media after he privately shared his misgivings with Trump about the signature bill.

“If somebody wants to know why I’m not running, it’s because some bonehead told him to post something and pretend like that was going to affect me,” Tillis told Semafor on Tuesday. “It affected me in a way that said: ‘I’m done with this bullshit.’”
A personal affront is the "bullshit" that was too much for you? Not any of the harm he's doing to America, you big crybaby?
... “If the president were to say something about me the way he did about Mitt Romney, people could only hope that I would behave like Mitt Romney,” he said. “Let’s just put it that way. I don’t take a pass on anybody flexing with me.”
Mitten is a mostly honorable (mostly wrong) patriot who often opposed Dementia Don while still a Sen with a future, not a lame duck wimp like you. :puke-left:

Yeah, but it's probably not actual Medicaid recipients who would make a voting difference. It would be interesting to know what percentage are registered and actually vote. I think the biggest response will be from those who think if they can cut Medicaid after saying they wouldn't, then they'll probably cut Medicare more next. And then social security - things that will affect almost everybody in the country directly as well as indirectly with grandma, etc. But if it's gonna be a "when they came for the ....I did nothing because I'm not a ...." situation on that broad of an issue, then the country is truly and totally down the tubes.

"85 million low-income and disabled" Medicaid recipients means that most families are affected by Medicaid, know a family that is affected or use a hospital and clinic that relies on Medicaid. It is up to the Dems to explain the post-midterm impacts and the slippery slope. I hope they don't screw it up.

OofDa! That's about 25% of US population eligible/receiving Medicaid - more than I would have thought. But with the program parameters, it's still focused on "low income" and disabled. So this year, a family of four making less than about $44K would be eligible. I'm guessing the majority are well under that number. So we're still talking about a group that a lot of people don't care anything about. I could imagine somebody like Supes saying "all my cousins are on Medicare and they're a bunch of layabout no-goods who don't even bother to get a job and ought to lose their benefits."

I think you meant Medicaid in that last sentence. Maybe Medicare should be need-based, but it isn't. Everyone gets it and almost everyone uses it, often with supplemental coverage if they can afford it.

I don't know the numbers but there are many families that don't qualify for Medicaid, but can't afford private pay for granny's nursing home care. So, they rely on Medicaid then do what they can to make the care less bare bones.
