Iran War

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Thanks. I wonder why Saudi has never built pipelines across Oman, jointly renting out their use to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq. Why have we been hearing about Hormuz disruption for 40+ years?
And why don't they have ports/shipping on the Red Sea? Don't know, maybe the oil fields are located on the gulf side. -0-?
1:45 - 10% of Saudi oil goes to Europe via the Red Sea. It doesn't say why so little.

If the repugs actually wanted to understand something about the Iranians or other middle eastern culture, they could re-watch the Black Knight scene in "Holy Grail." Losing an arm was "just a flesh wound" and the knight was convinced that with no arms and only one leg he could still kick ass. When the last leg was gone and he was only a torso, he finally acknowledged he could "call it a draw, then". Have they managed to suppress the Palestinians yet? That would be the starving, homeless, defenceless people in Gaza? Nope. They're still literally throwing rocks at tanks. Take a thousand years of cultural indoctrination that dying for Allah is not only rewarded, but desired. Even conquered, they have no give up in them. These are not Americans in funny hats and beards. Remember, a lot of these people think it's quite reasonable to kill their own daughter because she got raped on the street. They are not like us, and won't respond the same way to the same actions and certainly not threats.

The strait is effectively closed at this point. I don't think that's really happened before. The closest equivalent is the tanker war ~1984-1988. Iran and Iraq both lobbed missiles at tankers, but even then the traffic didn't stop as it did now.

Scores of children killed.

Yep.

2026 Minab school airstrike

"According to Iranian state media, 168–180 people were killed, the majority of whom were schoolchildren."

When I get distressed about how much Trump and his calamity clown show have done to the US, I remember that a majority of the vote gave this fool the office twice and even after all he's now done and said, almost 40% of the population still supports him. That makes me think I probably have never lived in the US I thought I did, and what looks like a betrayal is probably just an unveiling. Instead of a parody of herself, Taylor could have been describing the US, "'Cause, darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream"

Hillary got 3 million more votes and DonOLD only got 49.8% of the vote in 2024.
and even after all he's now done and said, almost 40% of the population still supports him.
Worse than that. :(

Meh, Hillary's popular majority is just a meaningless technicality. The cumbersome, outdated, and impractical "system" lawfully but regretfully gave Trump the win. No matter how the data gets collected, analysed, summarized or cranked, a large percentage of US people support Trump and his destruction. Doomed we are.

True and it's sickening, but it was just never "a majority of the vote".

Wha-tever. When anything even close to half of the public even tolerates him, much less actually supports him, the country isn't likely to recover.

Looking back at history I believe Trump beat Hillary because a lot of folks voted against Hillary more than for Trump.
