The strait is effectively closed at this point. I don't think that's really happened before. The closest equivalent is the tanker war ~1984-1988. Iran and Iraq both lobbed missiles at tankers, but even then the traffic didn't stop as it did now.

When I get distressed about how much Trump and his calamity clown show have done to the US, I remember that a majority of the vote gave this fool the office twice and even after all he's now done and said, almost 40% of the population still supports him. That makes me think I probably have never lived in the US I thought I did, and what looks like a betrayal is probably just an unveiling.
