As far as I'm concerned, all golf courses are unsafe. A person could get hit with a ball (those things are hard and fast), be struck by lightning while carrying a metal shaft and wearing shoes with metal spikes in the soles, a jilted wife could rampage onto the course in a souped up golf cart looking to shoot her shithead husband (there's no telling how good her aim is, and there's not a lot to hide behind out there), or some wild animal could suddenly reach its threshold for golf and burst out the rough on a vengeance bent rampage. Hell, a giant snake could slither out of one of those innocent looking water features with blood in its eyes. It's just not worth it.

While Salas, like other regulars, fears that the dirt-cheap green fees and laid-back vibe will be replaced by an exclusive playground for the wealthy, he has also questioned Trump's priorities at a time when the nation is at war in the Middle East.

"We're in the middle of a war, and he's over here trying to tinker with a golf course?" Salas said. "I mean, where is this guy's sense? Common sense?"

Fellow East Potomac regular Fidel Enrique Garcia Rendon, a 59-year-old Pilates studio owner, also fears what the prospect of a championship-standard course might mean for his wallet.

"Unfortunately, if it goes to a championship course level, the fees are going to go from $22 to $250 or plus, $350 who knows?" he said. "So I definitely will not be able to come here and play because at that price, I cannot afford it."

Fellow retiree Tom Carmody echoed those statements, whilst also raising concerns over Trump's long-term interest in the project, fearing he could one day pull the plug and leave it unfinished.

"It just makes me nervous, quite nervous," Carmody said. "For one, just his ability to follow through. I mean, what's going to happen? Will he stop halfway through or quit or something like that?"

"He talks about it remaining open to the public, but instead of $30 or $40 a round, maybe it's $120, $150 a round, which is going to eliminate a lot of people," he added.

The outrage, the sudden realization something is wrong. I don't remember what Jack was pissed about but I see that the local golfers are pissed. It wouldn't surprise me if one of them goes off the rails in a like manner. Perhaps wrapping a couple of his clubs around a tree on the course. But there are not many left evidently. What's a man to do?

Availability and affordability are big issues for golfers. I grew up playing muni courses around ATL. The green fees were very reasonable and I was not concerned with a "championship" layout. My experience with championship courses is they are not fun and over priced. Golf for amateurs is supposed to be fun.
