"Amish Mafia" is more fiction than not. "Breaking Amish" although taking some liberties with total accuracy is based on fact. But they don't actually shun the secular world. They sometimes shun each other if they violate the rules. They work, shop, and integrate well with "English" people. And - the part about "rumspringa" where young people are turned loose to experience the secular world is true. Amish is a Christian faith, taking a literal interpretation of the Bible.
