IRS - Scammers

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

IRS - Scammers

Unread post by indago »

From CNN 31 October 2013:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Taxpayers, beware: Fraudsters impersonating IRS agents are calling people across the country demanding they pay taxes that they don't even owe.
--------------------------------------------------------------

article

It was noted that the scammers:

• Declare that taxes are owed to IRS

• Threaten the recipient of the call

• Demand payment

So, don't be confusing these scammers with actual IRS agents, who:

• Declare that taxes are owed to IRS

• Threaten the recipient of the call

• Demand payment

From Yakima Herald Republic 30 August 2014:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The regional Internal Revenue Service office has reissued a warning about ongoing scam phone calls claiming to be from the IRS. According to IRS Seattle spokesman David Tucker, the scammers are calling taxpayers and demanding money and/or personal information. They even threaten pending arrest if their demands aren’t met.

Yeah, maybe some of them. Also those who might have tried to shave their tax returns a bit. Or those who think the IRS is out to get them because they're teabaggers.

Sure thing....just let Uncle Sam keep all that money you've paid in.....but, you could start at the beginning of this thread and not pay taxes....
yep, that's the ticket; no scammers, no tax returns....which could lead to free room and board, free clothing, shared bedroom for a few years...... :---P

That's what you get for thinking; be careful, you'll hurt yourself......I was quoting Granny Clampett.

I did not know that. Meanwhile, I intend to go to work as usual and help subsidize the 47%ers that Mitt Romney so fondly spoke of. They need our help.

Won't be long before I'm one as well; or dead. Should I become one, I plan to still work as a part time wizard, associate jesus, or some sort of minister without portfolio on as needed basis in case by case situations. Isn't that just a peach of a plan? I like it. :D

The IRS estimates that it sent out nearly three million fraudulent refunds to con artists last year. And according to a new report from the Government Accountability Office out tomorrow, it cost tax payers $5.2 billion.
