Then there was my 4th Great-Grandfather who was killed by Tories defending his father-in-law's home and family along the Savannah River. I'm related to others more famous but I always name them because he gave the supreme sacrifice.

Oh, while you are telling us about your ancestors that died in the War for Independence, tell us about your service to our country. Most importantly tell us about your children serving in uniform.

Interesting story. The fact that you place a high archly on the death of those that fought based on the outcome of the battle speaks more about your character than their's.

But, since you think that way. Your 6th great-grand father sired three times more sons that fought against our independence than for it.

The foot note says the condition of your ancestors cemetery in 1940 was quite poor. I hope you honor them enough to have fixed that. More likely just like you reject the responsibility that goes with freedom and rights. You live off his sacrifice without taking any responsibility for his final resting place.

I love old cemeteries and used to go around repairing and cutting those in disarea. Also epoxied many head stones back together and even got many free markers. It's fun and interesting. Had a friend who knew where every old cemetery was where I used to live.
I would be willing to take a day trip to help clean it up and mark graves with some volunteers. Most local organizations will help with tools, markers epoxy and such.

This one is on private land. I think you must get permission first. Some land owners only permit descendant to work on plots.
