socks

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

The things Mr.B shared about his career and semi-retired jobs were verified, not though any stalking but though a lefty poster that knew him in real life and though his own invitations. None of them had anything to do with "investigative journalism", which is what way sucky investigator Seth Milner says he did.

Aside: Mr.B was a mostly decent sort of curmudgeonly Christian con for years, then he got extremely homophobic and tuned worse in other ways for some reason.
I guess it could have been my fault. I took a serious dislike to bb. Maybe I met him late, or I was the one who turned him mean.

Flip side - I find seth mostly honest, while your opinion of him mirrors my feelings toward bb.

If I'm following - your main problem with seth is his lack of understanding with all issues gay. he still sees the jokes as funny.

It takes a lot to shed old habits and prejudices. I'm not sure if I have shared my own racist past on this forum, but I assure you that leaving it behind was a long hard gradual process with the jokes being the last to go. It was tough, but I knew that I couldn't saddle my children to this very wrong past. I was successful with my kids and mostly so with myself - even so, you and I still disagree on slavery and the war of northern aggression - I just don't see any good coming out of any aggressive war. People come to terms with their mistakes through increased understanding, not through force. People resist when pushed.

I doubt it was you, me or anyone else. We had folks like the "twisted sisters" way back on BRN that fought hard with him over faith. He fought back, but not with the crazy and mean he did his last year and a half or so here. I think he changed on his own, maybe for some real world reason.

No, as rstrong points out, with his defense of Kim Davis and other things Seth Milner is homophobic but he doesn't really harp on it all that much. My main issue is with matters of poor character that have nothing to do with any one issue or his being a con.

I must have missed seth's support for the trash.
Kim Davis is entitled to her hate and ignorance, but because of her hate and ignorance, she is not entitled to use the public commons to push her crap. She should have been fired immediately.

My here again, gone again posting does create some info holes, but I do know that I took longer to shed my racism than I claimed. As I said, the jokes were the last to go. Humor, right or wrong, occupies a different place in the brain and generally expresses itself long before more philosophical characteristics. Take seth's joke about the military - it describes homosexuality as new and mandated by liberals. Funny joke for a con, but ignorant of the 1,000+ year history of homosexuals in the military and the ignorance expressed in the punch line is 180 degrees off from the equality progressives have fought for.

Maybe seth will respond and explain how he can support this davis trash or why huckleberry lies every time he opens his mouth.

Damn, and I thought the stats were pretty good.... out of over 200,000 attempts only a handful have gotten through.

That's ok though, I recently banned Russia, and getting stricter with the spam controls. Spam bots have gotten a lot smarter over the last year. Captcha's are at the point where they're almost useless, bots can read them better than humans.

I wasn't rubbing it in, nor ridiculing you; just making a statement. I think you've handled it pretty well in keeping them at bay.

Seth is proven wrong again. Goes with the "I was just joking" reaction, but drops to his usual level of maturity in the same post.

Aside: Mr.B was a mostly decent sort of curmudgeonly Christian con for years, then he got extremely homophobic and tuned worse in other ways for some reason. I think he changed on his own, maybe for some real world reason.
I've read many of his past posts; and for the life of me, I can't imagine why in the world anyone would want to "attack" his beliefs and then attack his wife . . . can you?
I started here as a pretty decent sort until I made an observation as to why I thought the other 90 or so members left this forum. Boy, did the shit hit the fan! One un-named poster started a wrathful vendetta that would make you think I accused "him" of some heinous crime! And the fan's still running . . . at high speed! About that dishing it out thing . . .
billy.pilgrim wrote:How about you, seth. Do you have a past on the forums.
No, not here, although I have posted in other forums; namely in Idaho. In reference to the possibility of my being Mr.B,
according to the members roll, I joined in April 2015, Mr.B's last post is in July 2015.

Flip side - I find seth mostly honest, while your opinion of him mirrors my feelings toward bb.
I try to be honest; I make mistakes, though. When someone else makes mistakes, I don't rub their nose in it and attempt to show my ass with my superior knowledge or ability to research something that someone else didn't locate. I try to maintain a sense of humor; life's too damn short to be a sour-ass all the time; I don't harbor ill-will against anyone or constantly spew against the political machine.
I cast my vote as my personal convictions dictate, not because the crowd thinks I should vote for who's popular.

If I'm following - your main problem with seth is his lack of understanding with all issues gay. he still sees the jokes as funny.
I have no issues with homosexuality, billy. I've stated many times, I neither condone it or support it; I'm neutral. I find it best to just stay out of the argument. Because of my stance, I'm label homophobic.

I did not defend Kim Davis; I defended her right to protest based on her religious beliefs. This is one of the instances where you and you dance partner accused me of homophobia because I wouldn't condemn her for her religious beliefs. My "poor character" label comes form what you call an "attack" on you for being . . . . well, what you are; I'm hardly a complete con; I have liberal views and I have con views. Huckabee . . .? I have no clue; I don't follow him.

The memes I post here are just that: intended for humor. Inasmuch as I do not make public my political leanings, (although I have said I have no political party favorites) the photos are intended to poke fun at any group, political, fanatical, or religious, etc. The really humorous part about them is the fact that there are two here that have no sense of humor whatsoever, and can really get their shorts out of sorts when I post the stuff.

Thanks for your posts, billy and Vrede too. I've enjoyed the "conversation!"

He gets proven wrong on his claim that America's torture practices don't include things like slicing people's testicles with scalpels. Point proved thus proving Seth Milner wrong again, something "he" will deny thus proving rstrong's point yet again. It never ends with the cowardly childish Seth Milner.

I think humor depends a lot on context. Jokes can certainly have a hateful basis and demonstrate various isms, but not necessarily. There are thousands of lawyer jokes, almost all of them uncomplimentary and some downright mean. (no skid marks, seriously?) A person who really hates lawyers might tell a lawyer joke as a "benign" way to belittle, or a person who is a lawyer might tell the joke because it has a funny punch line.
But generally, telling a racist/sexist whatever joke in public, or posting it for public view - not knowing the audience and presenting no context - is pretty good evidence of the teller being racist/sexist, whatever.

Yeah racism is funny between friends of different ethnicities depending on how close you are, but not so much between total strangers, because then its just racist.

Based on my personal experience alone, I did continue to tell ethnic jokes long after I had outgrown other racist feelings. I rationalized that the joke outweighed the potential for hurt. Maybe I see some of that past me in seth

Please fill in the blanks, then print the form in duplicate. Mail one to the "Dear Abby" column and keep one for your records in case it's needed for a medical claim against your insurance carrier.

Yeah I was Julian the Apostate. I think partisan told me a out this forum.
I remember Julian.

I believe my billy pilgrim character appeared after kilgore trout was banned by a real trout person, who it appears went to jail.
and Friendofred was a blathering idiot who couldn't conjugate words and never used spaces after periods. He was created to fawn over and follow jknowgood relentlessly. At first he begged me to leave, but before it was over, he would leave when FoF showed up.

Thanks for passing on. I like knowing past names, as it is our posts that create our personalities

Maybe reuniting old friends is what this thread is about.

How about you, seth. Do you have a past on the forums.
Yeah the old GoUpstate forum was a train wreck. People would get so freaking bent out of shape it was hilarious. Lots of personal threats and what not. I miss the drama, it was super fun to watch. I don't really know what happened to most of the other posters. I think some used to post here but they've since left.

I remember you posting there. Didn't you and Hugh get into it? Remember that guy? He used to post here under a different user name, but lost contact with the forum when the URL changed. I find that pretty funny.

Poor old hugh with his story about joining the army to fight gooks, but the army needed him more in germany.
He claimed to have outed me and would post about walking by my office in Greenville.

I live in Florida and have only experienced the interstate in Greenville, but hugh though he had me. I wonder if he ever confronted the person he thought was me.

I have always had a serious distaste for the war monger type draft dodgers like hugh. Too many people were destroyed by that war to allow lying pieces of shit like hugh to brag about their "thank me for my service" experience.

Fact - in 1968 the military recruiters could almost guarantee you one of your top 3 requests. So dodging nam was as simple as enlisting.
