They knew the only way to bring fundamental change was to crash the system through NONCOMPLIANCE. Voting is COMPLIANCE. Period.
That link contains enough deluded bullshit for three Trump rallies and a Christian book store. And that's being unreasonably polite.
Non-voting isn't noncompliance. It's self-irrelevance. It does nothing whatsoever to "crash the system." The folks he imagines he's protesting against are probably the very people given more power by him and his friends not voting.
The "Icelandic Revolution" wasn't done through non-voting; It was done through voting. Kicking the old guard out. The pirate politics and direct democracy Pirate Party won 3 seats in Parliament, giving them a strong voice. And power, as they could be tie-breakers in any parliamentary votes.
And when the next leader wasn't entirely sincere - the Panama Papers leak exposed his offshore bank account - he was kicked out too. In the October 29 elections the Pirate Party won
10 seats in Parliament. That was done through people VOTING, not staying home and calling petulantly calling it "noncompliance."
