Make this "pulled" banana peel recipe: Nadiya Hussain on Good Morning Britain!

Yum!

Think how many millions of tons of edible peel has been wasted over the centuries.

That worked so well as a “pulled banana” burger, I decided to tweak it.

Pork ribs with an equal volume of washed “pulled" banana peels slow cooked together in foil for several hours. Removed from foil, meat chopped, onion, garlic and BBQ sauce added, cooked on high for a bit.

Double Yum!

Does it get you high?

But now I'm filled with angst and guilt because it's described as:

Turkey Breast, Cream Cheese, Roasted Unsalted Sunflower Seeds on Squaw Bread. Includes Mayo, Tomato, Lettuce & Sprouts.

Am I required to give up this particular sandwich, or must I boycott one of the best sandwich shops in SD? Suppose I just ordered the sandwich on some other kind of bread?

They say:

Everything we make is created in house, from scratch, like your great-grandmother used to make. We work directly with local farmers and purveyors to source the highest quality hormone free, organic when possible, sustainably farmed, meats, dairy and produce so your taste buds and your soul are satisfied.

Is all that nullified by the casual use of a term that some have found offensive?

Is the "Left Coast Pastrami" too political?

Hot Pastrami with Grilled Onions, Dijon Mustard, Pepperoncini Peppers & Melted Swiss Cheese on a toasted French Baguette.

Had to lookup the description. We definitely need more info on the origins, but it seems to me that they could come up with a new moniker.

Of course not, silly. That only works with smoked banana peels, which are best with smoked pork.

The English word squaw is an ethnic and sexual slur, historically used for Indigenous North American women. Contemporary use of the term, especially by non-Natives, is considered offensive, derogatory, misogynist, and racist.

Ah, thanks. Riverside isn't where I thought it was. I would guess that it's received the same years of complaints that the Backstreet Restaurant once got, and have decided to tell the anti-bigots to fuck off. Maybe they should change their name to California DeWhite.

The restaurant in the article is different from where we go, which is indeed the Board and Brew in Carlsbad. "Squaw bread" isn't a propriatary name.
Anyway, the sandwich was excellent, the bread was fresh and delicious, and they can call it anything they want as long as they keep serving it. Except Trump Bread.
