Can't make this (stuff) up

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Yes, I shit you not. I believe this is for real...
I'd think your odds of winning have to be pretty good.
Everybody who doesn't win is actually the winner.

Would fit in any of our political threads, but this is so shocking I chose this topic instead.
Tea Party Ex-Congressman Joe Walsh Apologizes For Helping Elect ‘Unfit Con Man’ Trump
The former Illinois representative urges a new primary challenge for the “reckless” and “incompetent” president.

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), the conservative talk-show host and prominent “tea party” figure, on Wednesday called President Donald Trump an “unfit conman” and a “racial arsonist” and urged a primary challenge for the Republican nomination next year.

Walsh also apologized both for his own heated rhetoric over the years and for helping to elect Trump in 2016.

Writing in The New York Times, Walsh said:
“In Mr. Trump, I see the worst and ugliest iteration of views I expressed for the better part of a decade. To be sure, I’ve had my share of controversy. On more than one occasion, I questioned Mr. Obama’s truthfulness about his religion. At times, I expressed hate for my political opponents. We now see where this can lead. There’s no place in our politics for personal attacks like that, and I regret making them.”
... In the Times, he argued that Trump isn’t a conservative and that he’s vulnerable not just because he’s unfit for office but because of his poor record.

“He’s reckless on fiscal issues; he’s incompetent on the border; he’s clueless on trade; he misunderstands executive power; and he subverts the rule of law,” Walsh wrote. “It’s his poor record that makes him most worthy of a primary challenge.” ...
“We need someone who could stand up, look the president in the eye and say: ‘Enough, sir. We’ve had enough of your indecency. We’ve had enough of your lies, your bullying, your cruelty, enough of your insults, your daily drama, your incitement, enough of the danger you place this country in every single day. We don’t want any of this anymore, and the country certainly can’t stand four more years of it.’”
Read the full column here.

On Twitter, Walsh wrote that his column was both a call for someone to run against Trump and an apology for his own role in helping to elect him:
Joe Walsh
@WalshFreedom

Why did I write this piece? Two reasons: First, I wanted to make clear that Donald Trump is unfit to be President, and he MUST be challenged in the Republican primary.

And second, I wanted to apologize for the role I played in helping to put an unfit con man in the White House.
Walsh was widely praised for the mea culpa: ...
Joe, this is not nothing. Good on you.
You'll catch hell for this principled decision, but you're a good man for making it AND for the apology. Rare thing, that.
Joe, please stop making me like your tweets, it's very confusing.
:D
Better late than never. It's good to see more and more people waking up to the monster that sits in the Oval Office. We need all the help we can get to save democracy and bring decency and clarity back to the United States. Thank you.

Good for Joe; it's comforting, somewhat, to see some of the former nut jobs coming out against the trump cult. I was thinking just the other day that the closer it gets to the election, the more unhinged trump is likely to become, if you can imagine that. I don't foresee him going quietly when he loses......fake news, millions of illegal votes, the system is rigged; take your pick. It will be something to behold just in time for the holidays.

"The conservation area is bordered on one side by a road called Congress Street."

 You beat me to it. It's kinda disturbing what we find interesting in common.

Sounds like the old horndogs weren't hurting anyone and no one complained. I think they should be let off and the cops charged with voyeurism and elder abuse.

Comments:
Police moved in and made the arrests after gathering evidence thru 956 hours of surveillance
I hope I'm able to be arrested for that when I'm their age. I'll plead guilty with a smile.
Heh, breaches of the law. That's not the only thing they were breaching.
There's the old saying that "I don't care if they do it in the middle of the road, as long as it doesn't scare the horses". Expensive police resources - and what were the police doing while they were in the park?
In related news, the Walgreens in Fairfield experienced record Viagra sales last month.
Sounds like they were all consenting and they made sure they were not in public. Why is this a problem that needed multiple cops to stake it out? How much manpower and time was devoted to this while there were robbery and assaults going on. Do they put this much effort into solving the local crimes that actually have victims?
Yet meanwhile there are probably a half a dozen or more active meth labs in that county but this is more dangerous to the community.
arrest the cops for disturbing the piece.

I thought it kind of strange that between all of them they had no secure place to, uh, socialize instead of in the woods. Maybe they're just a bunch of old hippies.

I'll go if you drive. I expect it will be quite chilly out there in the desert at night in late September so our aluminized plastic alien suits will be nice and warm. In the daytime we'll drink tequila and wear Panama hats; maybe pick up some alien chicks. 8-)

Another way to stay warm, and Oklahoma City is on the way:
'Storm our shelter': Oklahoma animal shelter uses Area 51 craze to its advantage

... More than 1.8 million people are "going" to the event to storm the secret military base and "see them aliens." An additional 1.4 million people have marked themselves as "interested" in the event.
OKC Animal Welfare is asking for donations.

We have great animals ready to protect you from the Area 51 aliens.
Adoption isn’t that far out of this world!

Cool, might keep the kids away from us, too.

I was going to make a dig about the errant apostrophe in "The B-52's", but they finally dropped it in 2008.

Speaking of aliens, did you ever notice how much alike Fred Schneider and French Stewart look?

It's weird; they do but I never connected to it. Something else weird, which I attribute to alien influence, is that my niece just this April married a guy named French and he looks exactly like James Carville, Bill Clinton's campaign adviser from back in the 90's. He's married to Mary Matalin, a conservative nutjob; it's analogous to the sort of gig George and Kellyanne Conway have. Alien shit for sure.....trying to glean as much information as possible from humans from all aspects before the takeover. trump is inserted into this as a diversion before they lower the boom on all of us.

I wouldn't have either, but I caught a bit of the VMAs last night when they introduced French Montana. I was thinking French Stewart and got briefly befuddled when a large, young Black man came out. I even wondered if it was the lighting for a moment  . Anyhow, I guess French Stewart was on my mind - more of that insidious alien influence, I'm sure.

They get territorial about their apple sauce.

Homicidal Canadian geezers fighting in the nursing home is even better. What are they gonna do, lock her/him up? I wonder which has a better staffing ratio, prison or nursing home?
